The Joint Commission added five new elements of performance (EPs) and two new Notes—and edited an existing EP—to maintain alignment with Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) regulations and guidelines and thus retain its status as a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)–approved accrediting body. These revisions, which became effective March 23, 2014, appear in the E-dition® as well as the 2014 Update 1 to the Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Behavioral Health Care. The box below displays the revisions; new text is underlined, and deleted text is shown in strikethrough.
